MVUSD Cyber Team impresses at California competition

Take a look at our impressive All-Girl Cyber Innovation Team consisting of students from Canyon Springs and Valley View High Schools. Over the weekend, they competed as one of just 16 from the state in the 2017 California Cyber Innovation Challenge.

While the girls did not win the overall competition, coach Donna Woods said it was an amazing experience, noting the team had a grueling weekend of research, analyzing, and evidence gathering.

The team did receive a special commendation from a judge, the Cyber Security Director for the CIA, for achieving the highest score in obtaining the most physical and digital forensics evidence after finding evidence that the other teams had missed or overlooked.

The competition included analyzing passwords, video, Skype chats, cyber threats and other items from a mock hacking on the Long Beach Waterplant District.
The MVUSD family is so proud of this team and we’re positive the experience in our cyber security program is setting them up for success in their future.
